Inca Trail Classic 2 days / 1 night
The Inca Trail closes every year during the month of February (rainy season) for maintenance.
At this moment we have availability beginning on April 13th 2012.
This tour is an excellent option for people who don’t have much time or aren’t in quite good enough shape to hike the whole Inca Trail. Disembarking from the train at kilometer 104, this alternative route allows you to hike the easier part of the trail, see exotic flora and fauna, ascend a dramatic slope, and witness majestic landscapes and the surprising changes in the ecological zones leading to Machupicchu.
COSTS
- ADULT COST: 350.00 Dollars.(With Huaynapicchu: 411.00 Dollars).
- STUDENT COST: remember to bring your up to date ISIC card: 330.00 Dollars .(With Huaynapicchu: 370.00 Dollars)
If you send us the advance payment with Western Union, Jet Perú or Argenper (Money transfer agencies) and pay the balance in cash in Cusco, we will give you an 8% discount off the total price.
INCLUDES:
- Round trip train tickets,
- a bilingual guide who speaks English,
- a night’s stay in a hostal in Aguas Calientes (the ‘Machupicchu’, ‘Continental’ or the ‘Plaza’),
- entry fee to the Inca Trail and Machupicchu,
- meals (1 breakfast , 2 lunches, 1 dinner),
- a bus from Machupicchu to Aguas Calientes and back to Machupicchu,
- First Aid equipment,
- and transfers to and from your hotel.
THIS DOES NOT INCLUDE:
- Breakfast on the first day,
- entry fee to the thermal baths (10 soles),
- tips,
- or any extras.
You should bring in your bag:
- Your original passport, and if it has been recently changed bring the old copy with which you used to reserve the tour.
- 1 change of clothes.
- Warm clothes including a jacket.
- Hiking boots.
- A rain suit or poncho suitable for hiking.
- A water bottle that can hold 1 liter.
- Camera with extra batteries.
- Insect repellent, sunblock and a good hat.
HOW TO RECONFIRM YOUR RESERVATION
Once we receive all the required information (ISIC card if applicable) and the advance payment, we will send you an email within 24 hours confirming your reservation with a service contract from our tour company
CANCELLING A RESERVATION.
If for any reason you need to cancel your reservation please note that we will not be able to refund the full amount of the advance payment. Remember that when you give us your commitment we pay your entry fee for the Inca Trail (non-refundable), reserve the services of a professional guide, and buy the Machupicchu-Cusco trip train tickets (only partially refundable).
With 15 days or less advance notice we will not be able to refund any of the down-payment .If the cancelation is made 48 hours or less before your trip, we will have to charge the full price of the tour.
Rules.
- In order to enter the Inca Trail you need to obtain an authorization from the INC (Peruvian National Culture Institute). This authorization can be purchased through a Tour Operator authorized to work on the Inca Trail.
- The number of people allowed to enter the Inca Trail is limited. In order to assure your entrance it is necessary to reserve at least 3 months in advance, especially for the high season between May 1st and October 30th
- To make your reservation you need to send us the following: your name, nationality, passport number, a photocopy of your up to date for the current year ISIC student card and a deposit of 50% of the cost (US $175.-). The reservation can be made by sending an e-mail to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it and the deposit can be made on-line with your Visa or Mastercard, or by making a payment through Western Union. Your reservation will be guaranteed once the deposit is received and we have your full details as mentioned above.
- Once the tour is under way, you will need to show your original passport at the entrance to the Inca Trail (the one with which you bought your entry pass). If you have changed your passport in the meantime, you will need to bring both passports, the current and the expired one. If you received a student discount, you will need to present your ISIC student card as well. You may lose your reservation if you do not present these documents !!!.
- Optional Climb to Huaynapicchu. It is possible to climb up to the peak of Huaynapicchu, the mountain next to Machupicchu. The hike is safe and very peaceful, in sub-tropical vegetation, with a spectacular view from the top. It takes a total of at least 2 and a half hours (2 hours walking time), but is physically challenging. Make sure you are in good physical condition and acclimatised if you want to do this hike. Going on the hike requires an additional permit to enter Huaynapicchu which costs US $61.-. (US $40.- for students)
Please notify us if you want to take the Huaynapicchu option when you make your reservation. After we purchase your entry ticket to the Inca Trail it is very difficult to purchase a separate entry ticket for Huaynapicchu.
Itinerary
- Day 1 : Cusco Km. 104. – Wiñayhuayna – Machupicchu – Aguas Calientes. We pick you up from your hotel at 6 AM and take the Machupicchu train to kilometer 104 (2200 meters elevation). At the trailhead you hike through sub-tropical jungle for about 3 hours until you reach Wiñayhuayna (2650 meters). At Wiñayhuayna you will regroup with your guide and have a cold lunch, then hike the rest of the way to Machupicchu and descend to Aguas Calientes, where you can enjoy the hot springs. Dinner is served in Aguas Calientes and you spend the night there in a comfortable hostal.
- Day 2 : Machupicchu – Cusco. On the second day you return to the Machupicchu sanctuary, visit the temples of the Sun, the Condor, dwelling houses, ceremonial houses, the famed terraces, fountains, and get to know everything about this organized city. This visit will aid visitors in beginning to comprehend the incredible development and technology of the Incan Empire. In the afternoon you take the train back to Cusco.
